The launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is almost here, and fans can get ready by pre-loading the game soon on each platform.
We’ve got some details for when and how players on all platforms will be able to start pre-loading Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, based on the store listings on PlayStation.
And we’ll continue to update this post as Activision provides more information on pre-loading ahead of the game’s launch.
Here’s everything you need to know for each platform.
Pre-loading of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War for PlayStation 4 is set to begin on Thursday, November 5 or Friday, November 6 depending on your region.
All players on PS4 who pre-ordered a digital version of Black Ops Cold War can start to pre-load their game during those dates. A specific time will be announced soon, but for now, the PlayStation Store says it’ll begin on November 6 at 12AM ET for North America.
For PS4, similar to Modern Warfare, there will be content packs to download for each of the three modes of the game. Currently, the PlayStation Store in Europe is listing the following packs at the following sizes (thanks @MadmanoStrikes):
- Dead Ops Arcade: 4.8GB
- Campaign Pack 1: 13.5GB
- Campaign Pack 2: 17.9GB
- Campaign Pack 3: 11.5GB
- Zombies Base Install: 3.8GB
- Multiplayer Base Install: 10.6GB
The current total is 62GB download, but we are expecting more content packs for the game prior to launch, as more of the game is added to the stores.
We will update this post once we see pre-loading officially begin on PS4.
For customers getting a PlayStation 5 on launch day, you will be able to immediately pre-load Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War when you get the console. For those getting theirs on November 12, be sure to load up the PlayStation Store to start the download immediately ahead of the Nov. 13 launch.
For regions that are getting PS5 on Nov. 19, Black Ops Cold War will be available for download and play as soon as you get your console.
Players getting Black Ops Cold War on Xbox, Activision has not confirmed a time for pre-load yet. But, if it’s similar to Modern Warfare’s schedule, we can expect pre-load for Black Ops Cold War on Xbox to begin starting November 4 or 5.
As of now, the Microsoft Store lists Black Ops Cold Was as a 100GB game, but that is subject to change as pre-load information gets closer.
For Xbox Series X|S owners, you will be able to preload Black Ops Cold War when your console arrives on Tuesday, November 10.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War on PC is available exclusively on Blizzard Battle.net. Activision has not officially announced a pre-load time yet for PC. But, based on last year’s pre-load, we can expect the pre-load to begin about 3-4 days before launch on Nov. 13. That would be around Nov 9-10. We’ll update this post as soon as there’s a final time confirmed.
As announced by Activision, Black Ops Cold War is expected to be a 175GB download on PC for the entire game – campaign, multiplayer, and zombies. The MP mode alone will be 50GB.
Stay tuned to this post as we’ll continue to update it as we get more information on pre-load.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War launches on Friday, November 13 on all platforms.
